Hi,
I have a 1993 940 Sedan. The AC works, but has a strange problem. It will only work (get cold) when the car is over 30 MPH or so. If you are driving under 30MPH or if the car is stopped, the air becomes warm as if the AC is turned off. But as soon as you pick up speed again to about 30 MPH the air is cold again. Once the car is driving fast enough the air is really cold.
I did a test. With the car stopped, the engine idle, and the air from the AC warm, I reved up the engine and held it at about 3000RPM's, and noticed that the air got cold again.
A while back I did have the AC worked on. They checked for leaks and operation, replaced "accumulator" & "ortice tube" (spelling???) and then they vacumed and charged it, I think twice. But right after that, with the car idle, the air was fairly warm.
So, any ideas? Is the compressor not functioning properly? Why does it only get cold when the engine is running at higher RPM's?
Thank you,
Michael
