Good evening all,
My apologies up front if this question has been answered recently, but I'm having trouble searching on the site.
After doing some clean-up and maintenance, I've started getting codes 2-3-2 and 2-3-3, along with a check engine light. The codes pop up usually after a longer drive (>5 miles) and seem to be infrequent. After getting codes and resetting, all seems good until the next occurance. This is accompanied by an idle problem that some folks here tried to help me with previously. Idle at cold start is a somewhat lumpy 1k. After running a mile or two idle in Drive stays around 1k, but idle in neutrol or park is up between 1300-1600. At that point the idle is pretty steady. I've been hestitant to start adjusting the idle via the set screw until I get the error codes figured out.
Brief history:
- Cleaned the throttle body with aerosol fuel injector cleaner and a tooth brush
- Replaced the TB gasket
- Cleaned the IAC with numerous shots of the same cleaner and a rag that I shoved in and around the neck & valve. I was hesitant to take it apart since it was all crimped down rather tightly.
- Checked, rechecked, and re-rechecked for possible leak paths in and around the intake manifold using the same aerosol cleaner again. Nothing found. All tubes/hoses appear well seated.
- About 500 miles ago I had to replace the catalytic converter (the upstream pipes had given up). At the time I just moved over the old O2 sensor. It seemed to run status-quo up until I started doing all the cleaning of the TB.
Any thoughts, ideas, guidance, or help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
-John
