Brake Pads 200

I went through 2 sets of Pads last winter going downhill 6 miles daily on a 10% grade. At the bottom of the Canyon the rims would always be very hot, no smoke or fire but hot. I pump my brakes and do not ride them, but i do use the brakes instead of the Tranny cheaper in the long run. Does this wear sound normal. Are there better pads for this type of driving. Thanks
