Stupid chime won't stop ringing !!!! 900

A chime now rings constantly, from the moment I put the key in the switch. I think it's the "you left your key in the ignition, dummy !" chime, but I'm not positive.

It seems to have started about the same time the keyless entry stopped working (coincidence ? related?).

It also seems to have started about the time I took off and then replaced the two knee bolster panels (L & R), to get at a possible wiring problem to the rear speakers (ended up the speaker problem was in the door, so I never moved anything under the dash at all, but did I perhaps mash something when I put the panels back on ?).

Pulled any fuses the owners' manual listed for being a warning bell -- no effect.

I'll try to pull the chime when I get home tonight, in order to preserve what little sanity remains (I know, just look for the little box that's making noise !!!!), but does anyone have any thoughts on the cause ?
