Water pump seal 200

I just finished replacing a water pump, timing belt and cam seal on the old 245. Well, I thought I was finished. That stupid seal from the pump to the hard line to the heater is leaking. It happened the last time I did this job on my other 240. That time, I took the whole thing apart again and found a boogered up seal and used a red rubber garden hose washer (it still doesn't leak). My question is: Rather than going through all that again, can the hard line be removed from somewhere near the back of the engine to replace that seal? Or do I take it all apart again?
Thanks,
Mark
