New problem, but I think it all started just over 2 years ago. So here is the story....
Just over two years ago I overhauled my rear brakes after the rear driver's side caliper seized and started grinding all the time. Rebuilt ATE calipers, Zimmermann rotors and PBR Deluxe pads from FCP Groton.
The other day I noticed a faint whirring sound when driving with the windows up. Investigated a little further and discovered some rust on the outer perimeter of the driver's side rotor - YES, the same caliper with problem before! My guess is that one of the pistons is seized inside the caliper or at the very least isn't working up to par. The good news is that after slamming the brakes hard a number of times the noise is gone. No pulling or any noticable braking problem at all. Rust still there though.
Rebuilt caliper has a one year warranty only - no freebies.
1. Will bleeding the entire system help any? Or is that a waste of time?
2. Does this sound like a bad brake hose or shitty ATE calipers?
3. Should I bother with removing the caliper and trying to free-up the piston? Or should I just replace the caliper and hose?
