driver's seat adjustment 200 1991

I can't adjust the driver's seat on my '91 245. The present position of the seat is fine for me, but other people have problems driving the car because the seat won't adjust. The seat looks like it is on the rails and the adjustment lever moves up and down, but I can't get the seat to budge. Any ideas?
