All,
I have my daughters 91 4 dr. 240 in my garage, running well but no brake lights!
First symptoms were total "braking" black out in back (3rd light included). Tails, backup, turnsignals all working. She advised that when the lights quit, a small plume of smoke rose up near the steering wheel. FWIW the brake lights all worked well around 2weeks ago....
Disassy. found the fuse blown (8A, white fuse). As it looked quite old, I installed the spare fuse to see how quick it might blow again. Instead I found that it doesn't blow again, even when brakes are depressed. However, no lights burning after the fuse replaced.
Looked up in Bentley, and it seems everything starts high atop the brake pedal. However I can't seem to contort thru in any fasion to get to this switch or even the wire! Can anyone provide some sage advise on how to remove this switch, which appears to provide the ground at the switch (single wire connection). I want to check continuity at the switch but can't yet get to it.
FWIW I don't much care for the way the circuits are depicted in the Bentley, not even half as nice as my Saab 900 manual (also Bentley). :o(
Does power feed for brake lights come thru the Auto floor shifter some how????
Some references to this in the Bentley.....
THanks in advance for the advice!
