The subject car is a 1982 242 turbo. I'm getting ready to do a brake overhaul:
-Caliper kits
-New brake lines
-New rotors
-New pads (naturally)
So... a couple of basic questions.
1. Brake fluid - DOT 3 or DOT 4? Or does it make a difference on an older car such as this?
2. Bleeding the front calipers - I assume that both lower section bleeders must be loosened - and and the lower section of the caliper bled - in the same step? Ie, both bleeders are opened, the helper steps on the brake pedal, both bleeders are closed, the helper lets the brake pedal up, repeat, repeat, etc..?? (as opposed to the upper section of the caliper which, clearly, is a more conventional type of design and is bled by itself).
{Does this question make sense?)
