'Easily removed' rear seat won't come out! What's the secret????? 200

I must be mechanically challenged or something. I'm trying to get the rear seat out of my 91 240 sedan, and according to the manuals it should come out simply by unclipping the clips at the front edge. I've pushed, pulled, swore, and done everything short of ripping the seat out using Incredible Hulk tactics. There must be a simple way of getting this thing out. Can someone give me some explicit direction on how to get this dratted thing out? It won't budge!!
