Hello, I have a problem that needs solving and I figured this is the place to ask. I have an 85 240 wagon w/ M46 and 300,000 miles on the odometer. A couple of days ago I took a 15 mile trip to a friends house. The car ran fine on the way there but when I went to leave the car would not start. The engine will turn over and stall out 2 seconds after start-up. What is strange is when I take off the return line from the fuel pressure regulator and hold my thumb over the exit it will run, but very poorly. It shuders really hard but it will run. I have swapped fuel pump relays with my running 85 240 and it didn't solve the problem. So far I have replaced the in-tank prepump, fuel pressure regulator, and fuel filter. I can hear the main fuel pump switching on so I dont think that is the problem. I have tried switching the ecu and the ignition control unit but with no luck. All of the fuses are fine. I dont know what to do now. Could the timing belt have slipped out of position and through something off? Could this be a bad wire harness issue, the wire harness in the car is in horrible shape but I don't know if this could contribute to the problem. If anyone has any suggestions on what the problem could be you will be my hero. Thanks in advance for all comments/ideas.
