Another B16 Question. 444-544 1961

I know that B16s don't have a PCV system and rely on the old puke tube method, but is it normal for slight whisps of oil smoke to be coming out of the oil filler cap?? I suspect my crappy cooling system has allowed my engine to overheat enough times as to compromise the head gasket. Anybody out there have experience with a smokey B16?
