Bummer. With the vacuum leak fixed as I've described recently, I now know that my distributor has vacuum retard! Always thought it is vacuum advanced, because the car was so quick to respond on take-off. Now it is just dragging behind all the rest. I know the European models were advanced, but did not know the ones made in South Africa were retarded. Oh well, just have to block it off and re-time it. As soon as the mechanical genius at work returns from his holiday, I'll get a photo interruptor made up, change over to electronic ignition, and program an advance curve. Anyone interested in a retrofit kit? Looks like there might be some interest in this, so will let you guys know when I've got something going. Will set-up a web page with pictures and stuff.
