Oily film on tailgate + white smoke 700 1990

Folks,

Two months ago, my '90 765T's had a top-end rebuild and all main seals were replaced. Turbo checked fine.

Recently, I discovered an oily film covering my tailgate, and my wife belatedly reported that *occasionally* when brakeing to a stop, a sizable white puff of smoke can momentarily be seen out of the back end.

Oil use over 2500 miles was 1/2 quart. Diagnosis?
