1988 740T stalling problems.. buzzing relay 700 1988

OK, this may have been a combination of problems, but I'm not sure. My car was having hot start problems. A) it would stutter at around 3-3500 rpm. B) Eventually it would just stall an die. Then it wouldn't start up again. Checked the relays. Thought it might be the radio suppression relay. Was tinkering around with it on Monday. I was told with the fuel pump relay that if I turn the key to the "II" position, it would click. Felt it click, car would start up. Let the car heat up. Drove it around the block a few times. Eventually it died. Turned the key to the "II" position again, relay would not click. Bought a new fuel pump relay (after returning the RSR, assuming it was no longer that). Car wouldn't even crank. Got a jump start and the car fired right up with new relay, but will still "stutter" at around 3-3500 rpm, whether in gear or in neutral. Eventually it would die! But now, when I put the car in the "II" position, the relay would "buzz."

Any insight? I'm such a newbie when it comes to volvos, so anything suggestion would be appreciated.

Thanks.
