Auto Transmission Lockout Switch (Looking for Help) 200

Son's 1986 240 is still running great, but is occasionaly failing to start because the autotrans lockout switch has slipped off of the pin on the side of the gear selector. Simple enough to lift up the selector cover and slip it back in place, but it keeps slipping back out. It looks like I could insert two small washers and shim the switch over toward the selector....is this a common thing? Is there a better way to correct this problem?

Many thanks to all.

Cliff
