Nissens fan switch thread size 700

Hey guys,
Just need some help blocking off the threaded fan switch port with a brass plug. My fan is controlled manually now and the parts dealer forgot to include the threaded switch with the radiator. I know he'll send me the correct one eventually, but since I control the fan from the cockpit anyway, I'll just go to home depot and get a block off plug in the meantime.
I tried 3/4", too big. 1/2" almost worked with tape, but alas it leaked. Deduction would seem to indicate that 9/16" or 5/8" would be about right.
Anyone know for sure?
