Stumble/Hesitation Problem. Is my car drunk? Fuel pump/IAC/ECU? 700 1991

Hello!

So, after perusing the FAQs and doing every possible search I could about the Fuel Pump, I decided to take the job on this weekend. I got in there no prob but it looks like I'm going to have to destroy some hose clamps to do the job. I didn't have any on hand, so we're on hold for a few days. In the meantime:

I took the opportunity to listen very closely to the pump (it was running) with the car idling. Everytime the idle stumbled, the pump stumbled, kind of like it was losing pressure and sucking air. Thoughts?

This car is stumbling/hesitating on acceleration. Once she's above 2k RPM or so, the car takes right off. During the hesitation, with the windows down, I can hear what sounds like a big valve or plunger closing or trying to close.

I've cleaned the TB (hopefully set the TPS correctly), cleaned the IAC, replaced the FPR and lots of the vac tubes. The fuel pump is my last guess.

One note: After cleaning the IAC the OBD still coded a problem with the IAC. What I'd like is for you all to tell me is that it's *not* the ECU;) I noticed somebody in the archives had actually replaced a transistor in his ECU on an 87 240. Is this even possible on my car?

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

best
