Replacement of a original 244 DL Blow(me)er Motor 200 1979

Well Guess what I did all day ? ? ?... It started out with the simple and easy Replacement/install of a new CD player, amp,eq,speakers, etc. (My 244 was violated by some self-serving,thrill seeking youths some months back) The Blower Motor has never made a noise since I got the car.... this of course is due to it's "inop" status. Living in So. Cali sees little desire by me to use the A/C anyway. The heater is kick ass and does not require the fan to do it's job. But,the fact that something on my Volvo does not work really bugs me. So Here I am sitting there, looking at the blower motor housing through the skeleton-like remains of what once was my center panel and lower dash.
A month ago I had gained the experience of aquiring a newer motor on a 1/2 price day at pocket-a-part and without doing a brain cell count and only half a cup of coffee consumed.... yes at 7AM i was extracting a orig equip Blower Motor.

Teardown went pretty quick. However I did entertain the thought of removing the Dash. That of course would have left the car inop if anything Murphy were to happen. Now the Motor I have does not fit. It is comlpetely round and will not fit the flat sided circle in the housing. At this point I get the book with the pictures in it and have to start reading the words." Modifcations required to retrofit for superceded motor".

Should I just pull the whole heater system and retrofit with anower housing and all. What of the wiring. I have the resistor, switch w/wiring the came with the new but used motor. What wires would I modify. The parts I got at the yard are "like new". Should have grabbed the whole nine yards? OR do I just get a different Motor. What should I do if I were you? Thanks
