87' 740 turbo with 250,000 miles, her previous owner spared no expence and pampered her she is beautiful, anyway... only a few days ago we experienced a tremendous downpour and I was (justifying my actions here) passing this a-hole in a white Caddy who without his lights on, seemed dangerous for Christene (the car)to be near. Upon passing this Caddy we slammed into this deep large puddle. She sputtered a bit and I quickly turned into a nearby parking lot where she began to recover. We hit the road again and about a mile later she stalled. Towed home. The next day I dried her out and got her started again and about 100 feet from my house she stalled again. There was white smoke which I understand is an indication of coolant leaking into the engine. The coolant is definately leaking from a seal somewhere near the "bell housing." While using my Haynes manual to identify some parts with the hood up and car running she began a steady stream of coolant somewhere in the exhaust just outside what I believe is the intake manifold and started to overheat (although I think now the temp. gauge does not work, shorted or something).
What now? How much? How do I present this to my mechanic. Should I get all seals replaced? How do I explain it to him? What kind of internal damage might I have done while screwing around? Someone please tell me what to expect. Or share with me a similar experience so I don't feel so ashamed. My car is mad at me I just know it.
