Idle woes 120-130

I'm working on getting a 67 122s back on the road...

I've put Dual SU Carbs from a '67 B18 onto a 74'B20 Fuel injected engine. It's running, but cylinders 2 and 3 tend to foul quickly. Compression is between 145-150 straight across. I'm trying to figure out what to do next. I've read many internet papers on tuning the carbs but here's the deal.....when I turn the fuel mixture adjustment nuts all the way in, then back them out the approximate amount (2-3 full turns) the car is Idleing like it's at full throtle. The idle adjust screws are backed-off all the way. In order to bring down the idle I backed-off the fuel mixture adjustments nuts evenly until the Idle was reasonable. This took about 5 more turns (full) and the nuts are barely hanging on at this point ( never mind the fuel dripping on to the manifold, which is getting hotter by the minute!!) Obviously this was not the solution, the car had no pick-up, and I could barely get it back into the garage for the night.
This is the first 122 Iv'e worked on, so I really could use any in-sight anyone might have as to this situation

Thanks,
Ken

Other things I have done..
*Adjusted the values

*checked for air leaks around the carb body by spraying carb cleaner around shafts while running.(Not noticable change)

*When car was running earlier, but cylinder 2 and 3 would foul, I timed the engine as best I could, 10 deg TDC
