As I slowly but surely fix most of serious problems with my 1984 240GL sedan, I find myself getting focused on irritating little noise problems.
Specifically, I find that as my Volvo heats up under the torrid New Mexico sun, the dashboard (actually its the panels in the area of the steering wheel) begins to creak. And as the day proceeds (my air conditioner has not yet been brought to life) the creaking gets worse.
I initially addressed this problem by removing the suspect panels and putting little pieces of velcro tape (furry side) behind the panel to provide a cushion and to eliminate what I perceive to be noise caused by the rubbing together of plastic pannels, combined with the expansion of the plastic caused by heat.
The velcro seems to have helped a little bit and for a while it worked quite well. Unfortunately, I have noticed that the creaking has returned somewhat and I wonder if anybody out there has had a similar problem and has come up with a really effective cure.
Thanks!
