cruise control flakiness??? resume just starts increasing speed past previous set pt. 200 1986

Finally finished the install of my new cruise control and everything seems to be working great ... sets and holds speed, kicks off when I turn it off and when I touch the break but then when I resume sometimes it just continues to increase speed well past the previous set point...

I wonder if the computer on it is flaky unless anyone knows of another reason why this behavior might be happening...

any ideas???
