ambient temp sensor on 94 940T wagon

The red "idiot" light on extreme left of my dash (940T Wagon) tells me the temp is " -188 deg F. I was told that this condition could reflect the wrong sensor was replace and/or was put in wrong somehow! My problem is trying to find the booger to make some determination. Can someone help me find this thing and is the sensor (if it needs to be replaced) expensive?
