windsheild wipers for 1976 245 200 1976

here it goes-
the volvo designers obviously wasn't using their brains when they designed these windsheild wiper motors. I am having INCREDIBLE amounts of trouble with these things that either 1 of 2 things:
1. the wipers don't work, or
2. the wipers don't stop working, even after the switch has been turned off.

is it better to fiddle around with this stupid thing or to just go to the junkyard and get 2 new motors (front and back- i suffer twice as much as the 242 and 244)?
