Hi Everyone,

My '89 740 16 valve has developed a loud ticking sound when idling or at higher rpms. My thoughts are that it could be a bad exhaust manifold gasket and I'll change it first to see if the problem goes away. I hope it isn't a lifter,but I don't think it is since the noise doesn't go away. I changed the oil using Shell Rotella 15W-40 and a Mann filter. Any ideas would be appreciated.
