Looked at a 94 945 Turbo (114k miles) today (to replace our 92 245). Started out by having the owner take me for a test drive. It had the knocking sound like the 240 has when cold, but it didnt go away after warm up. Had great acceleration (almost as quick as our S**b 900SET). After the drive (about 5 min later) I checked the oil level - dipstick had an oil mist on it but certainly not wet - and the entire dipstick rod was covered with a dried varnish. Looking through the oil fill also saw varnish on the cam lobe.
I am assuming I should run away from this car just for being low on oil - but is the dipstick varnish typical or just an indicator of long term neglect?
Also the car had cloth seats - I was surprised they did not provide as much thigh support as the 240 seats. Are the 940 leather seats any better than the cloth seats for support?
Thanks.
