I'm about to complete the installation of a Bosch electronic ignition (distributor, etc from a 1975 volvo 240) into my 1967 P210 (B-18 engine). The conversion is well detailed in the VClassics archive but I seem to have at least one 'extra wire I don't know what to do with...
There are 3 weparate wire looms coming from the 'Black Box'.
1) Brown and green wire to distributor. (No problem).
2) Blue and brown wire joined via some ceramic thingy with only blue coming off for a connection somewhere. QUESTION - is the ceramic thingy the 'ballast' referred to that can be discarded if using the oringinal coil? If so, what do I do with the brown wire left over if I ditch the ceramic thingy?
3) White and brown wire - white wire goes to negative terminal of coil (no problem). QUESTION - where does the brown wire go? It is not referenced in the instructions.
QUESTION - regarding the diode (in my case, purchased from IPD), does anyone know whether the terminal end is the entry end or the exit end?
Many thanks for any help you may be able to provide. Once this is wired up, I plan to see if I can coax the car out of the garage... It's been a year!!
