Auxilliary vacuum pump 700 1987

There is a vacuum pump about the size of a fist which is mounted next to the power steering fluid reservoir. When I start my 760 turbo, the pump is turned within about 10 seconds of starting. I've noticed that there appears to be a missing hose leading out of the back of a diaphragm-looking-thing next to/connected to the pump. It says OUTLET on it but there is no tube on it. This is a new car to me. I've looked under the hood around the intake manifold for a similar sized port somewhere, but found nothing.

Can anyone tell me if there is to be a hose on this end of this thing or if is just an outlet to nothing, i.e. the atmosphere? Maybe someone has the same model and can peek under their hood. I would appreciate it.

Thanks,

Howard
