My 740 turbo Smokes like crazy if you leave it idling for more than about a minute. I've bypassed the turbo and disconected the crank case breather and it still smokes. The only place I can think it could be coming from is the valve stem seals. I could see them getting old and brittle and popping off under high boost pressure. Left to idle, with the intake in a vacuum condition, it would inhale oil out of the cam box.
Does anyone know if it is doable to change the stem seals without taking the head off? what special tools will I need or have to make. I've more or less resigned myself to driving the car regardless but it gets a bit embarassing at a traffic light.
