Vacuum one way valve? 200

Ok on my 82 244 and both my 89 244's there is a one way valve just oof the intake manifold that supplies the vent pods and so on.. On my newly aquired 92 244 there is none.. I was losing vacuum on hills to the vents and of course the first thing I thought of was the one way valve,, but to my surprise the 3.5 mm vacuum hose coming from the firewall went directly to a barbed fitting just below where the one way valve usually connects. The fitting is factory looking and I do not think there has been any tampering of the system as both the previous owners had no idea how to work on one of these bricks..Is there supposed to be one or was the design changed? My book does not mention it.. Help please....Oh by the way I read the post on making the rear bushing tool and the amount of work involved in removing them.. Did i do something wrong when I replaced mine? I was not exhausted, but then again I am not 20 years old,,My shoes might be 20 years old but I passed that point a long long time ago..Think I have Art by a few years too.. :<) Max
