volvo Heater core thermostat valve 120-130

My heater thermostat valve is stuck.

I have replaced it before, it was a while ago and I kind of forget , but I remember swapping over the thermocouple (the thing with the coper line that goes into the heater box)so I might have used that part from a 74 or so 140.

I have searched around and the only ones I can seem to see are rediculously expensive.

I can rig up a regular water tap to turn on and off the water flow, but this would disable the automatic climate control.

Every newer car must have one of these things, or something similar. has anyone had success in swapping one over from a different kind of car?

any suggestions?
