How to Test Throttle Position Sensor? 900 1994

I've had the check engine light on for a short while and fuel economy has gone down. I checked the codes and they were all related to "Fuel Trim" (113, 231, 221, 232). I visited the Volvo dealer and the tech advised that the TPS was bad...apparently signalling the ECU that the throttle was wide open. But I do hear the little 'click' when first opening it off the idle pos'n.

I let them sell me a new TPS, but before I open the package, is there a way to test that the TPS on the car is indeed shot - or maybe just out of adjustment? What electrical readings should I see on the TPS terminals/wires for various throttle positions?
