Vehicle- 1989 760 Turbo B230FT
I have several questions for anyone that can help-
1. The idling is running high, in park it runs close to 2000rpm. I read that blocked crankcase ventilation can effect idle so I started looking for the flame trap. I found the plastic junction tube below the intake manifold and pulled it out. The is no flame trap either in the junction or in the hose running down from it. I noticed that instead of going directly into the block it goes into a black plastic box mounted on the engine block. Is the flame trap in there or is it that this year B230FT just doesn't have one?
2. The hose that runs from the junction piece to the air intake on the turbo side of the engine is totally blocked up with oil/carbon deposits. It is so hard that I can't even break through it with a coat hanger. Did this happen as a result of no flame trap? I will have to replace the hose. Hopefully this will help the high idle problem.
3. I also noticed that there is very little suction on the port that the ventilation hose connects to on the air intake. It seems that crankcase fumes could hardly be drawn into the intake. I took several of the large intake hoses off and everything looks fine. Shouldn't I feel a noticable vacumm at the port?
4. When I took of the air intake hose from the turbo to the intercooler I noticed a trace of oil on the hose. Is this normal or should it be dry? I had replaced the turbo recently with a used one that was supposed to be good (60,000 miles on it). If the oil is not normal could it have gotten there from the old turbo that was leaking? The one that is in now seems to work fine, I have good power and haven't noticed any burning oil.
Any thoughts on any of these?
