I recently aquired a 1994 Volvo 940 sedan with a B230 NON-Turbo engine and 43,844 miles on the speedo. CarFax certiified.
I took the car to A Wisconsin emmisions testing station today and these are the results below.
HC Limit: 0.8000 grams/mile my Volvo; HC: 0.6345 passed
CO Limit: 15.000 grms/mile my Volvo; CO: 6.1289 passed
NOx Limit: 2.000 grams/mile my Volvo; 3.0557 FAILED!
I checked the on board computer a couple of weeks ago and read a perfect 1-1-1
at the same time I checked the Volvo o.e. plugs and they were very wide at .040+ on some of them. I brought those down to reality to .030 , specs say .028 - .032.
I have been running a mixture of Amoco regular gas and a bottle of Gumout super concentrated f.i. cleaner in this tank of fuel. I have about a 1/4 tank left when I arrived at the emmissions facility today, I wonder if this mixture could have affected that NOx (nitrous oxide) levels today ??
How can I bring down the NOx levels??
Thanks in advance. Duck
