Greetings. This is my first post.
I just bought this wonderful 960, and have taken the position that I'd rather be aggressive with maintenance, rather than surprised by unexppected repairs. (Yes, I know that some surprises will come regardless, but the fewer the better!) This board has been a FANTASTIC source of input as I map out a pro-active service strategy for this car. I hope to drive it for another 500k miles. It's currently at 120k.
I'm not much of a DIY-er.
Here's my question: In 3 weeks I will be taking the car in to my mechanic for a timing belt change. (Last change was at 71k.) Given my desire to maintain proactively, what else should I ask my mechanic to do while he's changing the belt. Here's what I've gathered so far:
** replace water pump
** replace tensioner
** replace bolt on the oil pump pulley (tends to shear off with new belt)
** check pulley for ANY sign of wear
** replace accessories belt
Please, is there anything else for me to think about here? Thanks in advance for the tips.
