wiper motor? 200 1984

So, it's the first snow of the year here in Chicago and when I parked my car last night I turned it off without turning the wipers off. This morning, I turned the car on (forgetting that the wipers are still on) and they, of course, make this straining noise because they are frozen to the windshield. I turn them off, scrape the window and click them back on. Nothing. What have I done? Burned out the wiper motor? Can I fix this myself? Thanks!
