accidental discoveries and fixes 200 1989

ever since I got my wagon, I noticed that the hood was slightly uneven in that when closed, the driverside front sat higher (looked normal) than the passengerside, which sat lower and actually touched the chrome part of the headligtht unit and did not look so normal. looking at the front of the car, you could see that the hood was a bit lopsided. this never bothered me, and I basically accepted it as a characteristic of the car. anyhow, just recently--after many times looking under hood--I by chance noticed two black rubber pegs on either side of the hood, located at the edge where it rests on the front of the engine bay. I noticed one was shorter than the other and thought maybe it was either pushed in or had been cut off. this short piece was on the passengerside. I figured I would have to go buy a new one to match the length of the longer piece, which was on the driverside. well, I was playing with the short peg and wondering how I would remove it. it looked stuck until I twisted it and voila! it lengthened and shortened! so I twisted it until it was the same length as the driverside peg, and now the hood sits evenly over the headlights!
