AMM 200 1989

Hello all-

Another AMM question, since this crumby part seems to control my life:
If i replace a faulty AMM and the pre-heat hose is not connected, will i still fry the AMM if i do not change out the air box thermo? Must the thermo be changed prior to the switch? Just curious. I didn't replace the thermo last time and was wondering whether this caused present AMM to fail. It was a used part, though, so i have no clue what killed it.

Thanks in advance---
