Ongoing Saga - 87 245 cold weather no start......home on the hook...... 200 - running now !!!!

Thanks to all who helped with info on this situation!!!!

The weather turned wwarm today - permitting reasonable driveway mechanical analysis.

Aye Roll - your photo of the coil area, with the clip, and your comment about no spark form the coil - put me to thinking....

I cleaned the clip contacts- no difference.

Then I went back to the two spade clips on top the coil - cleaned them by sliding the clip on and off a few times. Hey - the old boy coughed and sputtered.
Dug out my small rust remove pen (fiberglass strands in a pen shaped holder) and scrubbed the spade and clip clean.
EUREKA !!!
The old boy fired up like old times.

One other question. At the top of the intake manifold, there is a one way valve, short (2") piece of rubber hose, and a thin hard plastic line running to the firewall, right hand side. When I pulled off this small hose - the idle smoothed out. What is this hose - what does it do. Any indications with the idle smoothing out???

Thanks again to everyone - we are now a 2 Volvo family again!!!!!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL !!!!!!!!!!!!!1111
