My teenage daughter's 90 16 valve had the balance belt tensioner plastic teeth break which luckily did not break nor hurt either belt (and miraculously the head). My daughter turned it off immediately after hearing the noise at start up. The belt is fine but loose to the point that the belt was hitting the cover. Both the balance belt and timing belt as well as oil pump pulley and bolt and timing belt auto tensioner were replaced less than 20K. I should have replaced the balance belt tensioner but at the time did not read the FAQ's (shame on me). The engine has 152K miles on it.
I have ordered the upgraded tensioner and new bolt. My question is how do I realign and tension the balance belt without having to remove the timing belt or can it be done? I have read the FAQ's about replacing both but not replacing the tensioner and adjusting balance belt.
Any help would be appreciated.
