Alternator similarity between 240 and 740 200 1987

Hello,

A week or two ago you guys helped me decide to replace the alternator on my brother's piece-of-crap 244. I'm doing it this weekend, or rather I'm taking it out and probably replacing the brushes and regulator, but I don't have a 240 Bentley since I don't have a 240. I do have a Haynes for the gas 700 series though, will the instructions for alternator teardown in there be the same as for a 240? I imagine the 700s had a few different models of alternator, but is one of them the same kind as on a 240?
