I've ordered a side European flasher light kit, more commonly known as side markers, from VLVWorld. I'm wondering how other Brickboarders who have added this feature to their American Bricks have wired them.
The quick and dirty way seems to splice them into the line for the turn signal on the respective side. However, I've also seen a few tips on how to run them through the parking lights so they are illumniated with the parking lights, but flash in sync with the turn signals. From what I understand, as a running light, the signal draws power from the parking light wire and grounds through the turn signal wire. When the light is flashing, it gets its power from the turn signal and grounds through the parking light.
However, I'm not sure if that method of wiring works on the 240s. I would think that, if one wired the flasher to the parking lights and turn signal lights, the marker would always stay on (since it's always getting power from either the turn signal or parking light). Is that not the case?
Have any Brickboarders gotten the side markers to function as both "running" lights and side turn signals, even if it required creative wiring? Is it much easier to go the simple way and have them illuminate only when the turn signal is flashing?
