towing long distance 200

I was considering buying a '91 thats located a few hundred miles away. I was wondering if I could tow it with my truck using one of those U-haul units that the front wheels of the car sit in. Can these cars be towed with the rear wheels turning without causing any damage to the auto transmission? Does the driveshaft need to be disconnected to tow long distances?
