Throttle Cable Replacement 200 1983

After 21 years of service, my throttle cable decided to snap on me yesterday, leaving me stranded. Had the car towed home and have ordered a new cable. I can hook up to the throttle and it looks like it goes into the firewall, where it is attached by 2 screws. From there, I assume it leads down to the accelerator. Anything special that I should know from someone who has replaced one?
