I've recently purchased an '84 245 that runs great. My one concern is that whenever I start it when it is it still warm (sitting for less than a half hour) it backfires slightly. The idle settles down immediately and the engine runs smoothly thereafter.
Should I be concerned? It doesn't seem like a big deal, but I can't imagine the backfiring is too good for the catalytic converter. Perhaps it is running too rich?
The car has received new plugs, wires, cap, rotor and had the throttle body cleaned within the last 1000 miles. Fuel mileage seems to be normal (low 20s around town and not quite 30 on the highway).
Thanks in advance for any wisdom you may be able to share!
