My 1988 245 wagon has a strange intermittent problem. It starts fine when cold, but once in a while it refuses to start again when the engine has reached normal operating temperature. Like all intermitent problems it is driving me nuts.
The engine starts idling fast, then when I shut it off, it floods with gas and refuses to start until the engine cools. Once I was stranded for an hour. Then it starts and runs fine, sometimes for months.
I have changed the idle motor, both fuel filters and the oxygen sensor.
What am I missing? The fuel injection temperature sensor? The air mass sensor?
Has anybody else experienced this problem. Once started the engine runs reliably and economically. But getting stucjk is no fun. By the way, this problem NEVER occurs when the car is at Hans Foreign Auto in Oakland, NJ, my mechanic.
