benefits of an ammeter and a voltmeter...i would think a voltmeter would be... 1800 1973

...sufficient. i'm thinking i might want to pull my oil temp gauge and store it. then stick a voltmeter or ammeter in the hole. i think the red warning light tells you if volts are low. so an ammeter would provide additional data. but if you got low amps, then you probably got low volts, (or maybe if you got too many amps you don't got enough volts..
...
i thought i was familiar with basic electricity, but that seems to be true only as long as i don't think too hard.
...
so, maybey someone here can provide a short thesis on the advantages of a volt meter over an ammeter (and visa versa), and also if there any real reasons for having both.
