Power loss 200 1988

1988 240 270K I've been having an intermittent problem when I make a hard left turn (usually at slow speed.) The engine seems to instantaneously lose power, kind of like an electrical problem. It sputters/chugs/etc until I either finish the turn or manage to pick up a little speed. It happened today (or seemed to) while I was making a (sweeping) left turn at almost 60 mph. Thanks in advance for any help. Could this be a problem with the harness under the drive shaft damper that I've heard so much about?
