Rear axle drums vs discs 1800

Hi all,

I would like to get/build a rear end with discs and LSD.
I do have an axle with LSD and drums. Could I buy a rear axle with open dif and discs, and swap the half shafts and stuff to get a rear axle with LSD ánd discs? (in other words: are the axle housings the same?) Or do I need to swap the internal bit (the dif itself)? For obvious reasons I'd rather swap half shafts then differentials.
